Regional Overview - October 23, 2023

As of October 23rd, 2023, the COVID-19 entry requirements for aircraft travel have changed significantly from country to country. While the majority of countries have dropped all of the entry requirements, there are a significant number of countries that still have COVID-19 pre-arrival testing requirements.  

The following countries currently hold the status of “Open with Restrictions” and are subject to some/all of restrictions listed below.  

  • Algeria, Angola, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cuba, Djibouti, Eritrea, French Guina, Guina, Guinea-Bissau, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Cote D’Ivoire (Ivory Coast), Kenay, Lebanon, Lesotho, Libya, Malawi, Mali, Malta, Mayotte, Micronesia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nauru, Niger, Palau, Reunion Island, Russia, Samoa, Sao Tome and Principe, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, South Sunda, Swaziland, Togo, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.
  1. Negative COVID-19 Test: Many countries require travelers to provide a negative COVID-19 test result (PCR or antigen) taken within a specified timeframe before departure. The timeframe often ranges from 48 to 72 hours prior to departure.
  2. Vaccination Requirements: Some countries require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for entry. The specific vaccines accepted and the number of doses needed could vary.
  3. Quarantine: Certain countries mandate quarantine upon arrival, either at a government-designated facility or self-isolation at your accommodation. The duration of quarantine varies by location.
  4. Health Declarations: Travelers might need to complete health declaration forms or applications, providing information about their health and recent travel history.
  5. Travel Insurance: Some countries require travelers to have travel insurance that covers COVID-19-related medical expenses.
  6. Digital Health Passes: In some cases, travelers are required to use digital health passes or apps that contained their vaccination and testing information.
  7. Masks and Hygiene Measures: Wearing masks and following hygiene measures, such as hand sanitizing and social distancing, are commonly enforced on flights and in airports.
  8. Visa and Entry Requirements: Always check the visa and entry requirements specific to your nationality and your destination. Some countries may have specific restrictions or entry bans for travelers from certain regions.

All other countries (not listed specifically) currently have a status of “Open Permanently with NO Restrictions.” However, many of them continue to have local regulations/restrictions that you should be aware off prior to arrival such; mask mandates, curfews, social distancing guidelines, capacity limits in public area’s and buildings, and on-line health declarations.
